SmartPlug Systems, LLC has issued a recall. SmartPlug Systems, LLC (SmartPlug) is recalling certain 30A Shore Power Inlets, part number BM30xx manufactured From June 1, 2023, to July 21, 2023. The manganese bronze D-rings may crack or fail when over tightened. A D-ring that cracks or fails may allow wires to loosen, causing electrical arcing and increase the risk of a fire.
What you should do
- Read the official announcement before driving. Some fire-risk recalls advise parking outside and away from buildings, because the fire can start while the vehicle is parked and switched off. Contact a dealer to arrange the free repair.
- Dealers will inspect and replace the SmartPlug 30-amp inlet as needed, free of charge. SmartPlug Systems notified customers August 15, 2023. Owners may contact SmartPlug customer service at email Warranty@smartPlug.com

Description of Defect :
Description of the Defect : The defective part is a Manganese-Bronze D-ring used in the 30A Products.

Description of the Safety Risk :If the D-ring cracks or fials, the electrical connections to the inlet could be
jeopardized. This could lead to arching on the Pins, create corrosion and
eventually the loss of power to the RV.
Description of the Cause : Excessive torque on the set screws, stress relief in the part, causing cracking.
Identification of Any Warning
that can Occur :
an early warning could be discoloration on the electrical Pins, or a heat build
up on the inlet connector, or the loss of power to the coach.
