TBEI, INCORPORATED has issued a recall. CERTAIN TBEI OX AND J-CRAFT DUMP BODIES EQUIPPED WITH WATSON AND CHALIN SL-1190 AND SL-0890 STEERABLE SUSPENSIONS. THESE DUMP BODIES ARE MANUFACTURED TO BE INTEGRATED INTO THE FRAME OF VARIOUS HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS. THE LOWER CAST ARMS COULD FRACTURE WHICH COULD AFFECT THE SUSPENSION'S ABILITY TO LIFT THE AXLE WHEN IT'S NOT NEEDED. SHOULD THE SUSPENSION'S LOWER CAST ARMS FAIL, A VEHICLE CRASH COULD OCCUR.

- Read the official announcement before driving. If you hear unusual noise from a wheel, or feel new vibration or wandering, stop and arrange recovery. The repair is free.

SAFETY RECALL
Lower Aluminum Trailer Arms on Ox, Class 8 Dump Bodies

This notice is being sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the
National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
TBEI has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in
certain (insert make, model, and model year of vehicle) with OX, Class 8 dump
bodies equipped with Watson & Chalin drop axle suspensions. The lower
aluminum trailing arms on these Watson & Chalin SL-1190 steerable
suspensions can fracture which could affect the suspension’s ability to lift the
axle when it is not needed. Malfunction of the suspension could possibly result
in a vehicle crash.
This decision was based on a defect report filed by Watson & Chalin with the
National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) on August 10,
2007, recall number 07E-057 concerning SL-1190 drop axle suspensions it
manufactured between May 10, 2005 and January 31, 2006. TBEI included
those drop axles in vehicles that it manufactured, and is now recalling those
vehicles.
We have determined that you purchased a truck with a lower aluminum trailer
arm that needs to be repaired. We ask that you contact your dealer (see below)
to schedule an appointment to have the lower aluminum trailer arm repaired
free of charge. It is imperative that you schedule this service on your truck as
quickly as possible.
